In this talk, we will explore how we can integrate generative artificial intelligence into mathematics education, focusing on practical applications and pedagogical benefits. We will showcase examples from SOWISO, an online learning and testing platform for STEM. Recently, we developed a chatbot support tutor, which enables students to receive feedback 24/7. This feature was successfully piloted at Radboud University and is now available to all users. We will discuss this use case, highlighting the chatbot’s technical functionalities and impact on student learning, as well as proposing teaching strategies. Additionally, we will outline other methods of incorporating AI into math education. By showcasing these advancements, we aim to contribute to the broader conversation on emerging educational technologies and their role in positively transforming higher education.
Speaker: Dr Luís Pires
Luís Pires has a PhD in Physics from Radboud University. He is a mathematics author at SOWISO, where he creates STEM educational materials for higher education students.
